As a military “brat,” my path has led me through many doors. Currently, my path has led me to teaching in the Los Angeles Unified School District after completing the Collaborative Teaching Preparation Program at California State University, Northridge. Previously, I graduated Magna Cum Laude in a competitive theatre program at Florida State University and worked as a professional actress in Orlando, Florida for two years. After completing several acting projects, I packed my bags and moved to Los Angeles. Unlike most people who move to Los Angeles with stars in their eyes, the reason for pursuing my career was not for fame and fortune, but rather so that I could gain real life experience to become a better teacher. My passion for teaching was apparent to me while I was completing my undergraduate degree in theatre. Performing on stage has always brought me great joy, but after taking several directing and play analysis courses I soon realized that I received a greater satisfaction from teaching. Assisting actors to breakdown a scene, understand the motivation and objective behind the text, blocking, and witnessing the final product all became more influential to me as an artist as well as a career choice. |
Philosophy of TeachingGood
teaching
is one-fourth preparation and three-fourths theatre. I hope to enrich my students' lives because of my own experiences through living in other countries, my versatile background, and my love for the arts. My ultimate goal would be for my students to want to come to the stage to learn more and more everyday. Together as a community, I believe we can support our children and encourage independent and creative thinking. I look forward to not only teaching my students, but to the lessons they will be teaching me in return. |

Technology in the ClassroomThis website was created as an assignment for my Basic Technology Methods class at California State University, Northridge. My website includes required assignments for this course. The assignments include a letter, electronic grade book, power point presentation, outline, survey, newsletter and an extra credit assignment. Due to our growing need for technology, I found this course to be highly beneficial for a more organized way to keep in touch with my future students, parents and teaching colleagues. |
